The nurse was wearing flip flops. She easily could of dropped the needle on her foot while she took my blood in the lab. The Dr. was also wearing open toed shoes. I checked with Dr. Ellen Haas and the billing dept. and they told me my birth control would be covered/free, so I made an appointment with the billing department and they did not tell me until AFTER my procedure that I was not covered. I was waiting in the room for 40 min prior to getting the IUD insertion, billing had ample time to discuss this with me. During the procedure, I fainted. When I woke up the NP had no idea what I had done and other nurses were holding me down asking if I have ever had a seizure, (no I have not). They then quickly tell me the IUD is in and leave, suggesting I sit in the anesthesia room. Then in comes billing, telling me I was not covered for today's visit. I had her double check and she told me I could apply for public aid, so I did and made sure I applied for the correct type they use, Meridian. Then once it came in, I call to give them the info and they tell me that it probably won't cover my IUD because my IUD was "the only IUD they didn't bill public aid for". They knew all of this yet did not inform me and added monthly late fees on top of this during the time frame I was figuring out how to pay for their FRAUD. I asked if they had any financial assistance through their clinic or even through Bromenn, which is where they are located. She told me no. I am a medical student and this was the most traumatizing visit in my life. Dr. Haas seemed sweet, all medical staff should know not to wear open toed shoes in a clinical setting, a lab especially.
