The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Southern Illinois that will begin during the on Thursday evening and will last through Friday morning. A flood watch is issued when there are conditions that are favorable for flooding. This usually involves possible excessive runoffs caused by over-flowing rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. Williamson and surrounding counties are prone to flooding, because of the low-lying land and waterways which run through the region.
